Job purpose

Welcome Break is in a rapid growth phase and is seeking to recruit an Interior Architect who can thrive in a scaling organisation and has the ability to drive design across our new and existing sites.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to excel by crafting and delivering our design vision and standards. The successful candidate will be a confident people person who can fit into Welcome Break seamlessly and adopt a hands-on approach to their role. A passion for design and project management skills are key.

The role forms part of the overall Applegreen/Welcome Break Group Design & Developments Team, and reports into the UK Design Manager.

The role will be based out of our headquarters in Milton Keynes, but will also carry a requirement to travel to sites across the UK and Ireland on a regular basis to support new build and refurbishment projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the development and implementation of the design strategy and activities for both new sites, and enhancements/refurbishments across existing sites in the UK
  • Prepare interior drawing packs for a wide range of projects including retail areas and seating
  • Create proposal packs and artwork for internal and external site signage
  • Manage external relationships and liaise with contractors, suppliers, brand partners and design agencies
  • Aid in the constant evolution of design, be aware of new trends and bring new ways to enhance all elements of design
  • Adhere to and follow brand partner and best practice guidelines
  • Support the Commercial Brands team on refurbishment & growth projects and feel confident to take the initial brief, develop the design, and present drawings and 3D visuals to internal clients
  • Follow projects through from initial brief to snagging on completion of installation

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

  • Minimum degree level qualification in design or related field. Other candidate may be considered with the relevant experience or skills
  • Have proficient skills in AutoCAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Sketchup
  • Be flexible to travel, work outside normal working hours, including some overnight stays in the UK and Ireland – valid drivers licence/vehicle required
  • Experience in a fast paced retail & commercial environment, with a focus on customer experience and expectations
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once and remain organised and calm under pressure
  • Comfortable both in an commercial office and construction site setting
