Pay up to £38,000pa
Job purpose
The role of Assistant Project Manager is to co-ordinate and deliver multiple shop fit development projects in the UK, including but not limited to, KFC, Burger King, Pret, Subway, WH Smiths, Starbucks, ensuring provision of a quality product, managed efficiently, safely, and professionally; within set budgets and agreed timescales.
The role will be to manage the construction aspects of developments on site and represent Welcome Break as the client to ensure that all contractors are meeting the provisions listed above.
Responsibilities
- Manage external consultants and appointed sub-contractors.
- Manage delivery of company purchased fit-out equipment and associated contractors.
- Ensure Planning Permission compliance requirements are met
- Oversee the preparation of scopes and budgets, and tracking progress and spend as construction progresses, ensuring budgets are adhered to.
- Provide Weekly progress reporting to Project Manager
- Provider assistance for PM & QS to Negotiate and agree variations and final accounts
- Ensure that all statutory and company safety requirements are met, and ensure corporate governance responsibilities are adhered to by actively promoting best practice throughout the company, complying with Health and Safety responsibilities to ensure a safe working environment for employed, subcontractors and members of the public.
- Effective Management of the Construction function to ensure best practices are followed.
- Identify critical path issues such as services and put plans in place to meet key deadlines.
- Identify in advance a schedule of information required to meet the build programme and circulate as necessary.
- Monitor and review in conjunction with the Development Team to ensure adherence to programmes.
- Monitor and inspect developments regularly to ensure that all quality control procedures are being adhered to and that the highest standards of build are being achieved and reflected in good NHBC Audit results.
- Ensure all information is provided to allow commercial team to control build costs and manage against budget.
- Liaise with commercial team to review all extra over costs and variation orders to minimise cost whilst ensuring programme and quality is achieved.
- Ensure the Department runs in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
- Attend relevant Build and Development meetings on site and keep the management team fully informed of site issues and progress
Performance measures
- Clear and accurate reporting & change control management that affects design/budget.
- Health and safety performance against goals.
- Delivering project as designed and agreed between key stakeholders
Qualifications, knowledge, and experience
- Previous experience in working in Catering Fitout essential
- Relevant Construction Health and Safety Qualifications preferred
- Ability to lead meetings and minute for distribution
- Must have driving licence
- Able to plan and organise own diary maximising time on sites
- Proven leadership ability
- Ability to work to high profile deadlines
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external colleagues’ and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety working practices in construction.
- Ability to work within the constraints of a budget.
- Computer literate – experience in use of Word, Excel, and Projects
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation and working considerations
- Ability to adapt to working in a fast-paced hospitality organisation
- Strong team working skills and the ability to influence and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business
- Strong time management, to manage conflicting priorities, including balancing moderate or high levels of work and project focuses.
- High levels of energy, drive and resilience to change
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build effective and lasting business relationships

- An office will be available you in Newport Pagnell but you will be expected to work from a number of Welcome Break sites and from home.
- Flexible to travel, work outside normal working hours, including some overnight stays in the UK and Ireland.
