Since 1959, when we opened our first Motorway Service area, we’ve built a reputation for giving our customers a Welcome Break from their journeys.

We’re at the forefront of this dynamic sector and, over recent years, have partnered with some of the best brands in the UK. As we go from strength to strength, our new owners Applegreen join us on our journey to becoming the number one service area operator in the UK – supporting us with international knowledge and experience to ensure we can deliver.

Established in 1992, Applegreen is a convenience food and beverage retailer and operator of petrol forecourts and motorway service areas with a major presence in the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom and the USA. The Group is focused on acquiring and developing new Service Area and Petrol Filling Station sites in each of the three markets in which it operates

  • Founded in 1992 by Joe Barrett and Bob Etchingham

Welcome Break is proud to have partnered with Children in Need since 2007! In that time we have raised over £5.5 million! Our site teams and head office team members work together all year round to help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

’Throughout the year Welcome Break raise money for Children in Need! With site fundraising on a daily basis, and fantastic events such as the Summer Ball and Football Tournament, there’s something for every team member to get involved in. With the opportunity for team members to become their site’s Pudsey Champion this is another great way to take part. Helping children and young people all across the UK, team members also get the opportunity to visit local projects and really see where their fundraising is going.
